Family : Rosaceae
Zone: 4 - 9
Zone: 4 - 9
Native small tree or multi-stemmed shrub growing up to 20 ft tall at maturity. Leaf margins are finely toothed and the leaves turn a beautiful yellow to orange in the fall. Small white flowers with 5 petals open in early spring prior to the leaves. They produce red berries which ripen to a dark purple in early summer. Flavorful berries are favored by birds and wildlife and are often made into jelly. Serviceberries are often planted as a specimen tree for attractive characteristics in most every season.
