Medium sized oak reaching a height of 50 - 70 ft at maturity. Identified in the 'red oak' group by the sharply points leaf tips. Northern red oak leaves typically have sinuses that are indented less than half of the distance to the leaf's midrib. Fall color is a brownish-red. Planted as a fairly rapid growing oak for landscaping and along roadsides.
